Paul Brookes’ challenge Day 27, and the image is We never learn, mixed media by Marcel Herms. When I read the title, my eye skipped the comma and read it as We never learn mixed media. The poem and my interpretation of the image is skewed by the missed comma.

Give me something I can do,
a task to make me feel useful,
valued; give me the one thing
I have ever been taught to use.
Let my hands take that tool
and wield it, the spanner
that unbolts the sky.
Reblogged this on The Wombwell Rainbow.
Thank you, Paul ๐
Isn’t it funny the way our minds see things (or don’t) sometimes? The other day I kept misreading something. I don’t remember what it was, but over and over again. ๐
But to find that thing would be good.
It is, like mishearing a word in a song. It’s impossible not to keep hearing the wrong word.
Still, in this case it gave an added twist to the plot ๐
Yes, it did. Clever to go with that. ๐
I didn’t have much choice ๐
I love what you saw. I saw sth quite different.
Write it! I’d love to see what you did.
I’m lazy today.
The image won’t go away. Tomorrow will do.
You don’t give up, do you?
Not often.
Thats great! No, it’s always a process. Funny, I looked at the title “we never learn” and said that’s it–there’s nothing more to say.
That’s true, when you’ve said that, you’ve said it all.
I love this art
The poem is beautifully composed
Thank you. The artwork is startling, I agree.
You’re very welcome
