My, “breaks,” “frozen,” “brittle,” “flares” all taking us to “cold brilliance” and “hope.” You make dawn into an extraordinary journey for us.
Going outside into the frost when indoors isn’t much warmer, is a salutary experience. It makes me realise how little separates us from nature.
I wish everyone was aware of how close we are to nature and should be.
It’s too easy to flick a switch and let the comfort flow. Easy to ignore that not everyone has that possibility, and easier still to ignore the cost to the planet of that facility.
Brava!

This made me shiver. Thank you for sharing! -D.O.
Thank you 🙂 I’ve been shivering for several weeks now.
Wonderful icy imagery ❄️ I do like the tanka form. I’m thinking I might use it for my next challenge!
Thank you!
If you do, I’d appreciate clear instructions as to how to write one. I know it’s not just counting the syllables, but I’m hazy about the rest of it.
I’ll do some research and then get back to you…

Thanks Willow 🙂

#Haiku Happenings #5: Jane Dougherty’s latest #tanka for my current #Haikai Challenge!
Thanks Frank 🙂
Wow–this is wonderful. It’s sharp and brilliant like an icy morning.
Thanks Merril. We’ve got another one of those coming up on Saturday. Just one.
It’s been frosty here the past few mornings, but it really warmed up this afternoon. We’ll be back to colder weather next week, I think.
It’s a bit early to be seeing the back of winter, but I’m always willing to believe anyone who tells me it’s over 🙂
Last year we had a very mild winter, but we’ve also had snow in April. . .so you never know. 😀
You’re so optimistic 🙂
😀
All those sharp sounds and images–but always, hope. (K)
There has to be or we just don’t bother getting up.
Lovely! At first i had read “Thanks” instead of “Tanka”, and i got goosebumps on my skin. Lol Michael
Ha! I’d never give thanks for the cold 🙂
Thank you, Jane! Me too! Thats fine! Michael
