Too little time

Too tired to string the words
chivvy them into order

herd flock swarm midges they escape
into the bright air where warblers flutter

while I cling to the dying winter
wrapped in hopes fire-leaping.

The future is rushing too fast
my barque spins on the torrent
ahead the last cliff.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

  1. The ability to say so much in so little is without doubt a skill few truly possess. I see these ‘memes’ on FB all the time that make me want to gag they are so superficial. That’s not saying so much in so little that’s just not saying anything worth saying! But when someone who knows how to write properly does it (that would be YOU) then you see the worth in ‘less is more’

    1. I think I’m saying less because it’s too hard to think of anything complex. My blood is hemolysing at the moment and I’m lessivée (the best word to describe it). So tired and couldn’t give two fucks about most things.

  2. That’s exactly how I feel. I’m exhausted but I can’t relax or get anything done. And each day is gone before I know it. I’m hoping it’s the change of seasons. (K)

    1. I hope so too. We think we’re not influenced by the natural world, and many of us do behave as though it doesn’t even exist, but we are. Light, warmth, the signs that life goes on, they’re all so important.
