Plum blossom

March Andre's plum blossom

suddenly
the spikes are stuck with froth
black branches clouded
with honey scent
and the brindled buzzing of bees

blue sky and blossom

once frost-furred
the plums are clad
in gull-soft drapery
heady-sweet
as spring water

march plum blossom

crisp white
cut out against the blue
a railing of blossom
against the buffeting sea
the house sails

house through blossom

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

      1. It’s mild here and sunny but there’s still a bit of wind from the east. Vaccine? What’s that? We might be offered one by the summer, but more likely the autumn.

  1. Jane, you recreate the wonder of the plum blossom beautifully… its look, textures and fragrance now part of my world! What a special sight so early in the year and thank you for sharing with us through your exquisite poetry.
