Amphibious

Amphibious

Storm came in a torrent
of orange light colour of clay
in a slick wet field.

Storm came in a flurry of rain
that cooled the torrid air
and brought out the toads

to blotch the lane
silent sentinels
waiting for the toad god.

Storm came and went
and the air is cool
murky

like a pool mud-troubled
by frogs hunkering down
against calamity.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

    1. I tried to photograph the sky but didn’t have enough battery for the flash and the orange colour didn’t come out. This photo is one of the same sort of sky I took in Bordeaux.
The storm was just a short downpour here but in a weird phenomenon, a bit further along the Garonne everybody’s rain was dumped on the same town. They had six feet of water in the streets!
