Frozen morning
The day is so cold,
the words freeze in my mouth,
drift like fog in this wintry air,
and no light relieves the chill
of frost-furred stalks.
Rime writes a cold story
across these fields
where no bird sings,
and nothing stirs this pause in time,
to reveal the dark dance of the stars.
Frosty indeed!
And I know how cold your house is. There must be lots of frozen words. 😏
It’s warmer here 28F right now, but we have a winter storm coming.
It’s been going down to around 20°F at night and yesterday it hung around 30°, the coldest it’s been so far. Today is a bit ‘warmer’ but the house is freezing. 59° in the warm room, 37° in the small bedroom. It’s supposed to go back to normal after the weekend. If we live that long…
Oh dear. Maybe you’ll have to allow the cats to sleep with you. It was 11 F here yesterday morning, so at 28 this morning, it seemed warm, especially with no wind. Now there are snow flurries, but we’re supposed to get a winter nor’easter with snow and wind tonight and into tomorrow morning.
Sounds absolutely terrifying! I suppose if the weather habitually got so extreme here the houses would be designed differently.
I suppose so. 😀
If your house is so cold I am surprised that you can think, leave alone write a beautiful poem!
Joanna
It’s exceptionally cold for this part of the world, only a degree or two above freezing. What makes it hard is there’s very little difference in temperature between inside and outside. I’m in the warm room with the stove—59°F. The coldest bedroom is 37°F, same as outside! The beauty of stone houses…
I can see those frozen words. (K)
Bloody perishing.

Oh, looking at this photo make me feeling much more colder. 😉 In your area you can have hope for better climatic conditions soon. But here there will nothing change before the end of May. Whoever decided living here could not go anywhere else. Lol xx Michael
Oh, until May! Poor you. It is supposed to be over today, changing to milder wetter weather. I’m at the end of my tether with it, not been able to sleep my face was so cold…
You are in the South of France, where wine is produced. Here you can only produce alcohol, from potatoes. 😉 Enjoy your Sunday! xx Michael
We seem to be in some kind of Arctic microclimate at the moment, getting colder weather than anywhere else. And the fog!
Lets hope this is not depending on all the waste the vulcano eruptions have produced. We do not really need an ice age.
The climate is up the creek, with or without another ice age. I’m living from day to day.
