Summer wind

Summer wind

The wind has risen stealthily
beneath the song of the blackbirds
swelling now to a tide of whispering

and I listen to a distant sea
lapping forgotten shores
pebbled and pitted with pain

while two dogs race careless
the green meadows of soothing sleep
dreaming of quiet abundance.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

    1. They’re comfortable, now that Redmond has adopted the armchair. We thought they’d want to share Finbar’s big bed, there’s plenty of room, but Bix hogs it, has put all the toys in it, and guzzles both bowls of food. They love one another, but Bix is just a hog.

    1. Two of the girls were here for a couple of days and brought toys. Bix rounded them all up and put them in ‘his’ bed. He’s not exactly possessive. Redmond could take them if he wanted, Bix just assumes that everything is his.

      1. That’s so funny. Our daughter and son-in-law’s dogs fight over toys (and food). Let me know if you get word of the transporter working so I can visit them. 😏

      2. I hope these two don’t start to fight. For the moment, Redmond just gives in.
I’ll let you know immediately. In fact, we’ll be over 🙂
