Grass grows

Grass grows and daisies
where the earth is left unturned.
In a single season seeds set
shoots uncoil and stretch
and breath a soft green mist
that summertime
glows pink and white with petals.
Let’s leave the earth unturned
The grass untrod
because nothing grows on concrete.

NaPoWriMo 2014

I have never participated in the annual novel-writing bonanza. Can’t even imagine writing a novel in a month. There is though, a poetry version—write a poem a day for a month. This month. I’m up for that, so here is my first poem for April in NaPoWriMo 2014.

After the silence of winter
And the short cold days
Dull with rain-laden cloud
The spring comes
In a flurry of builders’ dust
And the song of the pneumatic drill.
