Nothing real

A cascade poem for the Daily Post prompt: False

Nothing’s real beneath the sunlight,

Nothing dances beneath the sea,

But lost illusions, bitter heartache.

The words to soothe cannot be found,

The blackbird’s voice is coarse and raw,

Nothing’s real beneath the sunlight.

Cloud fills the sky and kills the starlight,

No moon, no sun can plumb the depths,

Nothing dances beneath the sea.

No more I see your face at waking,

You stole away and left me nothing,

But lost illusions, bitter heartache.
