A poem for Finbar

Desert dog
Fleet-foot,
Long and narrow
From head to sickle tail.
A streak of sunlight
He flies,
Skimming dry scrub
Bright dart
Colour of silver sand.
On his back
He carries stripes of shade
Like the slender leaves
Of the eucalyptus.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.
