Storm damage

More and more storms.

The day never grew,
dawn never brightened nor noon,
storm and the dim light of the sea bed
all the summer joy we had.

Dawn never brightened nor noon,
cloud hung heavy, a thick bank of grey.
Who would know that behind the sun blazed?

Storm and the dim light of the sea bed,
but no fish darted among the damp weeds.
I picked over the damage, rain and wind-battered things,

all the summer joy we had,
a tangled mess of breakages now,
that the late sun won’t mend.

      1. Oh, weird! I don’t think we’re supposed to get rain until later in the week, but it’s very hot here–92 F, feels like 100 “they” say, and hotter tomorrow and Wednesday.

      1. It rained all of May, all of June except for about 8 days of heat wave. In July we had a day without rain but it’s back since yesterday afternoon set to rain and storm most of next week too. They haven’t even made a first cut of hay, and no sign of when they’ll be able to start. The stuff won’t be any good as fodder if the rain goes on much longer.

      1. They stop for short periods, like an hour or so, but the cloud is moving so fast it’s obvious there’s more on the way. It’s pouring now.
