Ten weeks

Can’t upload the vid so please imagine a baby’s first song.

Ten weeks

and the world is singing
cradled in the arms of mothers
and the fruitful earth.

Beneath the sun
swallows skim the fallen hay
in insect clouds

kite and kestrel
hang among the clouds
too high to hurt.

Earth sings
I hear the thrushes
and in my heart
a baby learns the notes
of their imperfectible song.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.
