A lovely poem, Jane.
Thank you, Robbie 🙂
How lovely
Thank you!
STRONG as Jane’s poetry.
Poetry stong, flesh weak. I am freeeeezing.
Are you? Poor thing. And it’s not Wed yet.
Get a woolen sweater and socks.
I have. I’m also wearing a jacket.
It’s not enough.
I think there’s a problem with the burner today. It isn’t giving out any heat at all.
Gee.
Turn on all the taps with hot water and let it run till the window panes get steamy.
There are only two taps with hot water and no ceiling above. Just boards with great big holes in them. It’s fun.
I think you bought the wrong house. It’s not what you thought you saw.
Get out of there.
We had one of the locals in today to look at the chimney in the kitchen to see if he could sort it to get a pipe through for another woodburner. He told us that the old couple who lived there before us just kept the barn door open into the kitchen so they got the heat from the cows…
Jesus.
Welcome to France.
At least you have great wine to toast to that.
We need something to keep us warm.
All we need it love.
That helps too.
Jane, you’re like romantic heroine stuck in time, living in an old castle where everything’s rusty, dusty and unrepairable.
No quite. There’s nothing to repair. Anything that can possibly go wrong or break down will be something we’ve installed.
No furniture then? How swell.
There’s our furniture, rudimentary electricity, running water and an electric water heater. That is about it.
Very romantic.
I bet the kids love it. They are probably too little to care.
Too big. They come and visit. It’s like being in a zoo or an old folks home.
Oh.
Not really. I exaggerate. The youngest one is home from school at weekends and two of the others come over on Sundays because they like playing at city girls in the country and making us laugh. The other two come to ‘visit’. They’re not country types.
Nice for kids, not fun for teenagers.
Not really. Once they get a taste for the bright lights, trees and birds nests lose their appeal.
Precisely.
Someone else associates strong with Oaks – I love your take more.
Thanks Scott 🙂 The oak is a beautiful tree, and hangs on against the gales and storms.
