The Snow Queen

I saw this competition in Sacha Black’s newsletter and thought I’d enter. I love fairy tale  and folk tale retelling so it’s right up my alley. You can read my story here. If I’ve understood the rules of engagement correctly, the story needs to have five likes to be considered in the competition, so if you have a few minutes, please go here

and give it a read and a like, if you did.

I used to do lots of things I didn't much enjoy. Now I am officially a writer. It's what I always wanted to be.

    1. Thanks Joy 🙂 Most of the characters in this story, with the exception of the Snow Queen are not very likeable. Even Anya, who is brave and single minded would defend her brother rather than what is right.

      1. I like that they’re complicated — both positive and negative goals and instincts — more interesting than the purely good versus purely evil guys from some stories.

  1. Quite the fairy tale! I see you got six likes already by the time I got there. I’m also not on facebook so can’t ‘vote’ for the story that way – apologies. Never thought I’d be able to have sympathy with the Snow Queen. We bring up our little boys (some of us) to think like Cai, same as with the girls. What if as from tomorrow all girls get put swords and other terrible weapons in their hands and condition them into warring while boys get told they should stay home and wash the dishes?
