Topped 4000 words today to pass the 82000 mark. To celebrate, plus the footie results, a tanka for Frank Tassone’s haikai challenge that I have been trying to resist lately.
across the stream
a fallen branch breaks the flow
pooling cool green
beneath summer leaves
water falls lazy slow
I do love Tanka
I enjoy them occasionally, when they sound like a poem.
I love them and try to rhyme them ๐
I know ๐
๐ have I mentioned I am incapacitated as of last Tuesday. Walking Ruby I fell over a fallen branch and fell badly on my foot/ ankle/ leg. Spent 9.30pm to 1am at A&E. Had exrays no brakes but severe bruising, soft tissue and tendon damage to foot ankle and leg. Can’t move three of my toes, but can hobble now… It could take weeks! ๐๐คข๐๐
No, you kept quiet about that! Sounds very nasty and yes if you’ve got anything like a sprain or a tear it could take a long time. Are you booked in for physio?
Not yet but I have a Pilates teacher who is also a qualified therapist itching to get her hands on me!
That will do just as well ๐
Reblogged this on Frank J. Tassone and commented:
#Haiku Happenings #1 (7/12/17): Jane Doughertyโs latest #tanka for my current #haikai challenge!
Thank you, Frank ๐

Congratulations on getting so much written. You definitely deserved a poetry break.
Lovely tanka–I love those little pools. ๐
Thanks Merril ๐ I was on a roll yesterday.
You were! I just wrote ONE test item, and I’m taking a break. Haha.
Depends on the distractions too. I think I’d probably be very easily distracted if I were writing test items ๐

A wonderful painting. Like half of the paradise. Thank you for these thoughts. Michael
Thank you! Cool thoughts for a hot day ๐
Congratulations on reaching the mark! Its a nice tanka.
Thanks Jay ๐
You are welcome! How are you feeling, with so much writing going on?
I get completely absorbed in a different world. Have to slow up over the next few days as we have a birthday to celebrate, plus the 14 July plus the football tomorrow.
I understand, sometimes I feel the same (getting absorbed) while doing various things, I hate it mostly (because it makes me feel far from reality) You watch football? I never understood that craze!
I watch it on the radio ๐ Only World Cup finals, if France or Ireland are involved.
Radio? That is some interesting way to watch! Good luck for the France! (Ireland? I really have no idea…)
What planet do you live on? Does India only do cricket?
Haha, India don’t do much football as the rest of the world, but I don’t do any sports (even in the sense of watching) anymore! Sports (and the related media) is a lost cause on me…
It’s not the sport I enjoy, just the excitement when a national team wins. It feels good to be a part of something. We are very out on a limb otherwise.
That is indeed true, but I have a sort of this anti-feeling thing, as in I would hate to be a part of something big, because if I’m part of something big, what am I alone? The whole attic is a cup of noodles, I say!
You have to see it in context. I live in a foreign country. I don’t have the same cultural baggage as the people I live with. I’ll always be foreign. Getting excited with your neighbours about the same thing is such a rare occurrence, it’s to be treasured ๐
Okay, that’s a really good point, and a good thing. Yes, join your neighbors!
Will do!
I heard you guys won, congratulations!
It was a famous victory ๐
